DarkTimes

Dark Times is an editorial exploration of solitude, visual poetry, and stark typographic placement. Combining high-craft pen illustrations with clean space, it is structured like a physical museum guide, telling a story of growth emerging from boundaries.
An editorial design series exploring the isolation, uncertainty, and psychological landscape of the 2020 global lockdowns.
The subject matter was heavy and familiar, so the project needed to avoid cliché while still acknowledging isolation, uncertainty, and the pressure of 2020.
Ravi treated the work as an editorial monograph, pairing detailed ink metaphors with generous negative space and quiet sequencing instead of dense explanation.
The final system feels closer to an art-book record than a poster set, giving the work a slower, more archival presence.
Behind the Craft
Drafting micro-stories and visual metaphors of barriers, roots breaking through stone, and rough storm waves.
All core illustrations were painstakingly drawn by hand using fine-liner pens, embracing imperfections and high-density hatch textures.
Structuring the layout with extreme margins and asymmetric columns, letting the stark imagery breathe like an art gallery book.
